No longer should we use flat topped implants. The abutments for these implants rely on the abutment screw to hold the parts together, imparting a high load to the abutment screw. In the conical connection design, a precise mating of the conical portion of the abutment to the conical internal of the implant is necessary for optimum strength. If original manufacturers' parts or precisely machined abutments are not used, then the design and strength of the implant/abutment interface is compromised.We use only either the original implant manufacturers components, or those abutment manufacturers that meet or exceed the original manufacturers’ specifications.
